Building Improvements accouncement.docx
We are excited to announce that the building improvements are underway!
Did you know our school building is considered a fine architectural example of the 1960’s Harlem Renaissance? The Department of Education and the City of New York are investing heavily in our building to bring about the improvements needed to preserve it well into the future.
These improvements include a new roof and a number of other measures to secure the integrity of the building. You will notice that scaffolding is being erected around the building. This is a safety precaution for the work being done on the roof.
We anticipate that the scaffolding will be up for a full year. While it is not visually appealing to have the scaffolding obscuring the building, it is good to know that every safety precaution will be in place for the duration of this project.
May 20, 2015: The scaffolding went up this week. We don’t love the way it looks but we love that the City of New York is taking the necessary steps to preserve our beautiful building!
